Boroding
Boriding, which is one of the methods of increasing surface hardness by diffusing interstitial atoms, can reach higher surface hardness than cementation and nitriding.
The boriding process, which can be done as a solid or liquid at approximately 900 °C, is performed at a high temperature for the substrate material and requires rapid cooling afterwards for core hardening.
It is possible to obtain surfaces with high wear resistance by boriding heat treatment, which can be applied to almost all steel groups.
The materials it is applied to,
-
Low alloy steels
-
Medium and high alloy steels
-
Nickel-based superalloys
-
Cobalt alloys
